Iberaki Akadama Problems: Is it Dissolving?

I have serious problems in my Crystal Red Naoki tank, as it looks if the Akadama Iberaki soil is dissolving! First, I have been think, I have too much detritus (‘mulm’) there, however – the dust turned out to be dissolving soil.

I am very unhappy with the situation, as I have to decide now whether I take everything off, and use new gravel or whether to leave everything as it is, until I have more time to care for this tank.

Maybe I received a bad batch, which lacks quality or has been stored wrong – however, I have NOT expected problems after 4 months already, from a product which is sold as ‘extra hard’ and quality bonsai soil.

I am also doing some recherches if the UGF-canister-filtration is the reason for the faster decomposition of the grains. I will try to keep you updated on this!
